DNR will highlight fishing, hunting and hiking at Northwest Sportshow

Outdoor enthusiasts can learn about fishing, hunting, hiking trails, water safety and much more by visiting the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources booths at the Northwest Sportshow, March 26-30 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

DNR specialists will be available to answer questions at the main DNR booth located in Lobby D. The DNR License Center will be selling state parks stickers, and fishing and hunting licenses at the booth.

Attendees also can visit the DNR’s invasive species information booth in Lobby C to pick up educational materials and talk with invasive species staff and conservation officers specializing in invasive species issues. The booth will have invasive species specimens and models for visitors to examine.  

The DNR Enforcement Division will offer an interactive LaserShot shooting range for youth and adults. Participants can test their skills at one of four shooting simulation stations. The range is located in Room 101J, next to the Lobby C entrance.

Youth interested in learning how to safely ride an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) can take a ride on the ATV safety training simulator also located in Room 101J. Staff will be available to demonstrate how to properly fit the vehicle to the rider and answer questions about safety equipment and gear. 

Business owners who are required to complete lake service provider training can attend a class on Thursday, March 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  For more information about the training and to register for the class, visit the DNR website at www.dnr.state.mn.us/lsp.

Daily admission to the Northwest Sportshow is $11 for adults 16 and older. Youth 15 and younger are admitted for free.  On March 27, seniors 62 and older will receive a discounted admission of $8 for the day.  Active military personnel receive free admission with a valid ID.

DNR will have booths at the Northwest Sportshow in Minneapolis

ICE BREAKER 5 - FREE SPORTS SHOW

ICE BREAKER 5 is set for March 12, 13 & 14, 2010 in Fremont Wisconsin at Channel Cats and the Fremont Event Center. ICE BREAKER 5 is a FREE Sports Show designed to give people access to some of the areas, and nations, TOP local and professional anglers. It's focus is on the great fishing in the Wolf River Country and Winnebago system.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinal Sport Show 2010

Five Day Sports Show

Started in 1939 as the "Fisherman's Party," the first Milwaukee Sports Show was a two-day event held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Eagle's Club Ballroom. After the Party ended, two Milwaukee Sentinel sports reporters and a local dog trainer named Orin Benson from Eagle, Wisconsin started planning for an even bigger event organized and owned by the newspaper.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show enjoys a strong tradition of outdoor sports exhibits, entertainment and activities going back to the very first show. Northeast Wisconsin Sport Fishin' Show

The Northeast Wisconsin Sport Fishin' Show was held in Green Bay, WI. on March 6 - 8 at Shopko Hall. Many of the regular vendors from previous years were set up at this event hoping to sell their products. There were a number of speakers providing seminars which included: Bob Mehsikomer, "Ranger Rick" Krueger, Tasmin Kaliska, Mike Mladenik, Lee Haasch, Andrea and Amy, and Jason Gaurke to name a few. As one who has attended or worked these Shows for a good number of years now, one could see that the current economy is taking its toll on these sporting events too. It appeared to me that the traffic was down some this year.

These two young ladies took a minute off from handing out free drink tickets for the Tilted Kilt in Green Bay so that I could snap this photo. It's the first time I've seen them here and I heard a lot of positive comments.

The Wisconsin DNR had their fish wagon set up as they normally do. In past years they collected fish from the Fox River by the Dam however they were unable to do that this year. I was told these fish came from the Hatchery in Wild Rose, WI.

The Green Bay Area Great Lakes Sport Fishermen (GBAGLSF) sponsors a Trout Fishing outing each year for Special Olympians in the surrounding Counties. The participants are bused to the National Guard Armory in Green Bay where they each catch a few nice Trout. GBAGLSF volunteers clean and bag up the fish and they are sent home with each individual ready for the frying pan. In addition to the fish, the Olympians are treated to a lunch and beverages also served by GBAGLSF volunteers. Pictured above is my wife Mona and I selling tickets at the Sport Show. Proceeds from the Raffle goes toward funding this worthy annual event.

GBAGLSF members Bob Gorecki and Robert Stark are pictured at the Show selling subscriptions for Great Lakes Angler Magazine. The Club was to receive a percentage of each subscription sold.

More Vendors, More Speakers! Expected to draw over 20,000 visitors, the Madison Fishing Expo features a diverse lineup of fishing tackle, equipment and boats from the industries' leading manufacturers and dealers. The Madison Fishing Expo is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that donates all of its show proceeds to fund fishing related projects throughout South Central Wisconsin. The largest show of its kind in the Midwest. Since 1985, the nonprofit Madison Fishing Expo has donated over $550,000 to various projects and organizations to improve fishing in Wisconsin! Great deals on tackle, trips, and boats! Youth Activities: casting contest, face painting, balloons, Kids Teaching Kids and more! Check out the antique lures display or have your old lure appraised!
