Hope Everyone is Enjoying Their Summer!

Hunger Task Force needs our help at the fish cleaning station to filet donated Lake Michigan trout and salmon from generous tournament participants. The fish we process into cleaned filets, gets put into family size portions, put into Ziploc storage bags and onto the refrigerated truck to be delivered on Monday to area families that would not normally get this valuable protein in their diets.

Bay City TournamentPlease share this with fellow club members or if you have someone such as a teenager that needs service hours, or a friend/spouse that wants to help but doesn't clean fish well, they can still help by bringing fish to a cleaner, putting processed filets into storage bags, changing water buckets, putting fish scraps down the incinerator, loading bins onto the refrigerated truck, etc.

Please sign up via email or text (wildcatcreekfarm@gmail.com or 414-467-6658) for this event as soon as possible if you are able to help the whole 4.5 hourrs or just part of it. "Many hands make light work" and it's great to be outdoors with fellow fisherman for a good cause!

What to bring:
Filet knife (manual or electric) HTF does have some extras on hand

Apron and hand rag (HTF has paper towel but a rag is helpful)

Wear old clothes/shoes you don't mind getting wet or can throw out.

Possible bug lotion for flies

Water is provided for volunteers from HTF, and the concession stand will be open.

The Brew City Fish Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 4 (rain date August 5th) at McKinley Marina located at 1750 North Lincoln Memorial Drive Milwauke, WI 53202

The fish tournament runs 5:30 am - 1:30 pm
(but fish processing volunteers are needed noon - 4:30 pm) boats must be in the breakwater by 1:30 for weighing in which begins at noon.

HELP NEEDED!

Help Needed July 29th/rain date July 30th

The Hunger Task Force is requesting our help again this year at the Brew City Fish Tournament hosted by Great Lakes Sport Fishing Club at McKinley Marina on Lake Michigan at: 1750 N Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Through the generosity of tournament attendees that may choose to donate their catch to the HTF, we are able to process the fish and distribute cleaned filets to the community.

This is a great community outreach program servicing those less fortunate that would not have the funds to purchase salmon & trout in the marketplace.

As a possible added bonus, we might even end up encouraging recipients to become anglers and fish on their own!

How can you help? Volunteers are needed at the fish cleaning area from about 12 pm – 4 pm.

Please note that not all volunteers need to know how to clean fish. We also need volunteers to bring the fish to cleaners and also volunteers to put the cleaned filets into zip lock bags and into the refrigerated truck.

For more information or to volunteer to help, contact us at: wildcatcreekfarm@gmail.com

LAST WEEKEND WAS AN “OK” FISHING EVENT

WCSFO Treasurer Cornell Stroik shared a couple photos taken after fishing this year’s season opener.

The first picture is of Cornell holding two of the Bass he caught at the Saturday Club Tournament at Lake Como. In that event he caught 5 bass over 14 inches. Pictured is the largest bass he caught 3 Lbs. His total weight for the Tournament was 9 Lbs. 4 tenths.

In the second photo he is holding the one bass he caught in the Sunday Club Tournament at Pewaukee Lake. It is the only fish that he caught in that event.

Thanks for sharing. If you have Club information or photos you would like to share, please sent them to: fishmeister@frontiernet.net

If you know of anyone else that can help with cleaning or be a runner, we can get done sooner. I need a final count of volunteers by Thursday please. Last year we cleaned about 1,400 pounds of fish.

Kids Fishing Clinic Menomonee Park 2015

The temperature was eight degrees and wind gusts up to 40 MPH but that didn’t keep these kids from attending the 24th Annual Kids Ice Fishing Clinics held on Saturday, Feb.14. The Clinics took place in seven area parks in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.

There was a total of 163 kids with 75 volunteers from the local fishing clubs that did their best under adverse conditions to teach kids about fishing.

Below are photos from Menomonee Park/Lannon Quarry, Townline Rd. (1/2 mile north of Good Hope Rd., Menomonee Falls), which was hosted by Badger Fishermen’s League. Thanks to Brenda Rosin-Schaff for providing the pictures.

Photos from the Kids Fishing Clinics 2014 #4

The Fourth batch of photos here was also supplied to us by: Brad Miller who from Walleyes Unlimited USA. Thanks again Brad and all those involved for sharing these photos with us.

Judging by the smiles on the faces and the size of some of these fish, it appears to have a very successful outing.
